As of May 2023 this problem is not yet fixed - but fortunately your suggested workaround

<code>\|</code>

is still working. Thanks for sharing!

This is driving me insane. Nothing (including \<code>\|\</code> etc) works inside inline code in a table which is 90% off what I am using Obsidian for (code snippets).
