+1, settings for local or global graph, like profil setup, or another way, or trigger if a property exist, …
Hi! This looks like a very useful solution, so thanks for the lead!
I installed the plugin and now I am struggling with how to set the presets
as I follow the readme section. Particularly, I am stuck with understanding what the “preset view
” is, and what to exactly edit once I get there… Have googled it but couldn’t find an answer. Would be very grateful if you could kindly guide me into this super quickly.
It’s worth mentioning that, even if I think that I have (manually) installed the plugin successfully, I do not see it in the list of community plugin settings; perhaps because it’s still in beta.
Thank you very much!
There is a plugin the syncs all the settings from the global graph to the local graph. It has to be synced every time a local graph is opened though.

Every time I use the local graph, I have to adjust the settings, again and again. This is annoying!
I started this thread in January of 2021. It’s one of my most-liked contributions, and still there is no baked-in solution, although there are workarounds, some of which I’ve described.
The local graph is so much more useful than the graph of your entire vault, and it is especially useful if you’ve set it to use specific colors for specific folders, tags, and/or key words.
So here’s my current workaround…
- Open the full graph for the vault, and modify the settings to get it just the way you want it.
- Bookmark the graph – that will create a saved bookmarks for your vault graph, with all those settings, using “Bookmark the active tab”
- Bookmarks - Obsidian Help
- Now install and enable Community plugin “Sync Graph Settings”
- Adjust the settings if you like – these affect the connection between the note from which the local graph is generated, so they are not relevant for the full vault graph. My preferences:
- Auto Sync: toggled on (these automatically sets the local graph to match the full vault graph; you can also turn this off, and then just issue the command “Sync Graph Settings: Sync Graph Settings to Local Graph” to apply the full graph’s settings to the local graph.
- Default depth: 1 (default)
- Default Incoming Links: toggled on
- Default Outgoing Links: toggled on
- Default Neighbor Links: toggled on
- Now your local graphs will have all the same colorful organization as your full graph. If it doesn’t work, go to the bookmark you created for the full graph.
- You can also set up bookmarks for multiple graph settings. Now your local graphs will reflect that. For example, you might want to have a bookmark to save a version of you graph that filters out notes from a particular folder. Or, a graph that includes only files with a specific tag or property.
