In short: sometimes Periodic Notes seems to ‘think’ weeks start on Sunday, other times on Monday. I’d prefer Monday, but really would like consistency!
I’m using the Period Notes plugin to creates weekly notes named with the following format:
ggg-MM - [Week ]ww
On Sundays, sometimes when I trigger the ‘create or view’ shortcut, it will correctly open a note named for the Monday preceding, or create a note named based on the week starting the preceding Monday.
But other times, it create a note named as if the week starts on Sunday.
e.g. Today I have just run the command. It created a file named:
2025-02 - Week 08
I deleted this and tried again, twice.
On the 3rd try, it created a file named:
2025-02 - Week 07
Which is what I would expect. Week 07 starting on last Monday.
Can anyone help with a suggestion on how to have Periodic Notes perform consistently when using Weekly notes?
Just a long shot, but could you be having an issue with which day/week it is due to timezones? Are you creating the new weekly note at a time in the day within the time difference to UTC/GMT?
Another idea, is either you operating system or Obsidian set to a locale having Sunday as the first day of the week?
You need to localize Calendar to a country that uses Monday as the first day of the week by default. So instead of English US, for example, you want to use English GB (en-gb).
This is under the Calendar plugin settings. Advanced settings - override locale.
Thanks. Oddly, I’ve had the calendar plugin installed for several years and did check the settings when first having this problem. The only options was for the dots. I guess perhaps there had been some corruption with it.
I’ve removed and reinstalled it and can see more settings. Everything looks as it should for Monday week starts.
