Password Visibility Option Missing For Publish

Use case or problem

Currently, there is no option to view what I’ve entered when inputting my password. Typically, there is a button that allows users to see the characters they’ve typed to ensure accuracy. Without this feature, it is difficult to ensure the password is entered correctly, and a single typo can result in an incorrect password with no way to verify it afterward. And you can only delete a password after setting it, rather than being able to modify it after viewing.

Proposed solution

  1. Add a button to show the password during input
  2. Allow users to view and modify the password after setting one

Having just signed up for sync, I’m going to say that the inability to view the password is a problem for normal (not Publish) obsidian as well.

When creating a new remote vault, for example:

  • the password for the vault is asked only once, instead of twice
  • when typing the password, it’s hidden

So it’s quite easy, especially on a mobile device, to mistype a password and have it applied to a remote vault–you’ll never be able to figure out what password is actually in use.
