Option to create a note from a template by right-clicking the template link

Use case or problem

I have certain tasks that I use templates for. When I have to do the task again, I have to create a new note, then insert the template. Sometimes I get several new tasks in a row I have to do this for.

Proposed solution

When I right-click a link, and that link goes to a file in the template folder, one of the options should be to create a new note and automatically apply the template.

Honestly, this would improve my QoL so much. It’s like the difference between “Go do X, and remember that to do X, you need form Y, so go get form Y” and “Go do X and use this form Y I’m handing you.” Especially when you suddenly have five instances of the task.

Things I have tried I tried using templatr (<% tp.date.now(“Do MMMM YYYY”) %>) but when I click the link it creates a new note with the title “<% tp.date.now(“Do MMMM YYYY”) %>” instead of setting it to the actual date. What I’m trying to do I have a dashboard, and basically I would like a link to create today’s daily note, with the title of the note being today’s date in the format yyyy-mm-dd. If possible, it would also be great if a template is inserted by default upon clicking.

Things I have tried Scoured the forum. Read and watched Templater Videos What I’m trying to do When I note take, I like to create new notes within existing notes by [[My New Note]] and then clicking the link. An empty note is made with the title and header (I have filename-header-sync enabled); #My New Note. All this is standard. I want to be prompted to select from a template before the new note is created. Is this possible.? Any suggestions or alternatives welcome? Cheers

This one actually seems closest, configuring Bases so that a file created by the New button automatically gets filled with a specified template:

Use case or problem I absolutely love the Bases feature. I love that I can make a list of files. I also love the “new” button at the top. However, with the current use, my workflow is add a new note, delete everything in the note, and replace with a template (because it won’t replace the properties therein).
