Open folders on demand (drag n drop)

Issue

Older versions of Obsidian didn’t open folders automatically after dropping notes on them. This felt natural to me.

I don’t drag notes to open folders in tree view
But I drag notes in tree view to organize them.

What I tried

I checked the settings to find some button/popup option to deactivate this behavior.

Is there some hidden feature to deactivate folders from opening automatically after receiving notes?

Improvement

In alternative, Obsidian could open folders automatically if we drag notes and keep the mouse over a folder for a few seconds.
This is also the default behaviour on Mac when dragging files over folders.

That’s the behavior I’m seeing in Obsidian. The folder expands only after hovering for a while. Otherwise, the folder does not expand when dropping files.

Do you happen to have Auto-reveal current file turned on? That would cause the folder to expand any time one of the files you’re moving is the focused file. You can turn it off by toggling this icon above the file explorer:
