Use case or problem
I use selective sync for my mobile phone because PDFs, videos and images can eat up storage space very quickly on mobile. Also as Obsidian Sync doesn’t work on the background, having to wait such files to be downloaded is not ideal.
Yet (with new mobile app starting speeds) I need to quickly snap a photo/video or add a pdf scan to a note on mobile. But current selective sync only syncs two-ways or don’t.
Proposed solution
I'll refer *desktop* as a device with all selective filetype sync toggled on and refer *mobile* as all selective filetype sync toggles are off.Allow mobile to upload excluded filetypes to remote vault, but do not download them. Uploaded file can be deleted from the mobile device after certain time.
So the desktop can be exact copy of remote vault and mobile can act as an inbox or quick reference.
Another solution might be to sync everything two ways but only download images/videos/pdfs when clicked/opened etc. (on demand)
Current workaround (optional)
If all of my attachments were in one folder, I could exclude that folder from syncing and leave all filetype toggles on. But not everyone have this specific configuration.Related feature requests (optional)
