What I’m trying to do
I’m trying to use Obsidian on a computer with the following specifications:
Operating System: Garuda Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.0
Kernel Version: 6.12.1-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2620 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: 62.6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 570 Series
Manufacturer: HUANANZHI
Screen Resolution: 3840x2160
The result is a very slow Obsidian. Sometimes it takes several seconds to open a tab. My.canvas documents take a long time to load, everything is slow. Zooming in or out is so bad that it seems to be running at less than 5 FPS. When I open Obsidian from the terminal, I get a hint.

Things I’ve tried
- I disabled all community plugins.
- I disabled the theme.
- I tried both Wayland and X11.
- I tried the.AppImage and AUR versions.
- I changed the graphics card settings to: “3D_FULL_SCREEN”, “VIDEO”, “COMPUTE”,
- I tried disabling VSync in the Kwin settings with:
[Compositing]
Vsync=0
MaxFPS=9999
- I reset the Canvas zoom to default.
- I closed all windows, leaving only Obsidian and the System Monitor open.
- I read several forum posts to try and find a solution.
However, I’m back to square one.
Will anyone have a solution for this?
I have two vaults, one empty and one with a few notes. Both are affected.
Waiting for help! And thank you to whoever can solve this problem.
