What I’m trying to do
I am running Linux Mint 22.1, the current version as at 2025-08-07.
If Open To Do List is open, Obsidian will not start, nor can it open another vault.
The error displayed is: “EMFILE: too many open files”.
It seems like this occurs when some other apps are open too, but I have managed to prove that Open To Do List is not liked by Obsidian. I have been using Open To Do List for many years, and it has never interfered with other applications.
What is Obsidian doing, when it tries to open a vault, that might be causing this issue?
Many thanks for your help.
Things I have tried
When it first occurred I started closing other apps, as I noticed that Obsidian would start, if it were the first app opened. I could then open other apps.
