Obsidian Repeats Indexing Whenever the Vault is Opened

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a new vault.
  2. Populate the new vault with files to allow indexing to occur on the next startup (I created about 1,000 files for testing).
  3. Close and re-open the vault. Allow the indexing process to complete.
  4. Close and re-open the vault again.

Expected result

After step 4, Obsidian would not report that indexing is completed.

Actual result

After step 4, Obsidian reports that indexing is completed. In my primary two vaults, they repeat the indexing process on every open even in restricted mode.

Additional information

1.2.8

This began seemingly immediately after updating to v1.2.8.

Developer’s Console

For what it’s worth, I’ve never seen the error below reported in the console. It mentions the term “indexed”, which makes me think it is related.

Uninstalling v1.2.8 and reinstalling v1.1.16 resolved the issue for me. I’m no longer seeing the above error in the developer console and the indexing does not occur on each vault open.

I’m cool with v1.1.16 for now, but the error seemed to interfere with the use of Dataview.

Okay, maybe it was reinstalling Obsidian that corrected the issue. I used the v1.1.16 installer and see now that I’m on v1.2.8.

The indexing issue has not come back up yet.
