Obsidian on Acer Chromebook can't create new files

Things I have tried

I did install Obsidian as Android app on my Acer Chromebook (Spin 514). I use a local folder for storage (that in turn is synced into my Google Drive via another app). Whenever I do something in Obsidian that would result in the creation of a new file (at least as far as I can tell, e.g. creating a new note or folder), those actions fail. Sometimes I get an error that tells me that file creation failed, sometimes the action just does not happen without any feedback.

I did not yet try to install Obsidian via the integrated Linux VM, which might help, I guess, but the Linux comes with some small limitation that I would like to avoid. But if all else fails, I would try that solution, too.

What I’m trying to do

I would like to use Obsidian in the normal way and not having to rely on creating notes and such on other devices and then sync them to my Chromebook before I can edit them there.
