Obsidian is much faster on Ubuntu *without* GPU acceleration

I dual boot Ubuntu and Win10 on my Thinkpad.

Obsidian has always been much snappier in Windows. UI responsiveness, backlinks, etc. Still usable on Ubuntu but responds more like a laggy webpage than a native app.

Recently, you added a GPU acceleration option.

I just tried turning it OFF in Ubuntu, and now Obsidian runs as fast (or even faster) in Ubuntu as in Win10.

Probably like… 50ms response time for UI elements compared to 300ms before (rough guess).

The toggle warns that turning it off will degrade performance, but for me it is the exact opposite.

I assume it has something to do with the integrated graphics chip.

Let me know if I can provide any further information.

we always had gpu acceleration, we added a toggle to disable it because it was creating bugs on some mac computers.

This may boid down to a driver issue or X11/wayland issue, the MX150 is very low end GPU so.

If the gpu is underperforming, try to disable in chrome, maybe it’ll help there too.

Ok. To be clear, I don’t have the MX150, I have Intel UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2)

Not sure if that changes anything.

I tried disabling hardware acceleration in Brave. Sure enough, much faster. Strange. Lame. The T480 is supposed to be “Ubuntu certified” - lol
