Obsidian Install Error

Steps to reproduce

Download Obsidian from obsidian.md/download
Attempt to install
Get the abort retry ignore error
-Abort cancels the install, so it’s not installed.
-Retry will bring this error message back up.
-Ignore will close the installer, and Obsidian is not installed.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

No, since there is nothing in the Guide about the installation process itself.

Expected result

Obsidian to be installed

Actual result

The error prevents installation

Environment

N/A, this would require the installation to succeed.

Additional information

A picture of the error message:

(the .tmp directory is different every attempt, but beyond that it’s the exact same error every time)
Things I have tried to correct this:
Delete Obsidian files in the Temp directory
Delete Obsidian files from everywhere on all hard drives
Delete Obsidian registry entries
Download and attempt to install previous versions of Obsidian
Create a different user account on Windows and attempt to install obsidian using that
Right click the installer and select run as administrator

No idea. It works fine for me. We’ll keep this open and see if we gather more reports.

Maybe an antivirus thigs? I don’t know.

I believe I’ve resolved the problem. Turns out the problem was Windows AppLocker. Specifically, it was blocking whatever Obsidian was trying to run from the temp directory during the install process.

I disabled AppLocker long enough to install Obsidian and it worked.

If someone has a similar issue, they may have the same problem. Or they can try the things I tried before (I got all of those things from previous threads that worked for others).
