I’m experiencing an issue with Obsidian (version 1.8.7) on Windows. Whenever I try to create a new vault or use the “Quick Start” option, Obsidian becomes unresponsive, and I get the “Not Responding” message
I’ve tried waiting, but it doesn’t recover. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
I don’t think this issue is related to my PC’s performance
Was it working before, and it just started doing this? Or are you new to Obsidian and it’s never worked for you?
Where are you trying to store your vault? Is it in a folder where you have read/write access? It is in a cloud system that isn’t set to be local-offline? Is an anti-virus program blocking it?
I’m new to Obsidian, and it has never worked for me. I stored the vault in a folder and just tried giving it read and write permissions, but it still doesn’t work. Also, I only have the built-in Windows antivirus, no third-party programs.
“Stored the vault” - So it’s after you choose the location? And does the vault get created and then freeze? Or does it fail to create any folder or files?
Can you share the full path you are trying to choose? (Hide your username if you need to.)
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I can choose the location, but then it instantly freezes when I press “Create,” so I assume it doesn’t even get created. (the folder is still empty after it)
My Windows version is Windows 10 Home.
btw. The picture on my first message shows what happens when I press “Quick Start”.
