I have disabled all community plugins and switched to the default them, yet it still freezes when I start. I’m on Windows 11. Note that my Android devices have no issues and are synced. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no dice.
Steps to reproduce
Open Obsidian and wait a few seconds until it freezes.
With Obsidian or that vault closed, you could try moving or renaming the {VAULT-NAME}/.obsidian/community-plugins.json file. This will keep all your community plugins, but they will be disabled when you open the vault.
The same thing has been happening to me lately. I still have community plugins enabled and want to keep it that way, but I do suspect loading those files is a major player in this bug. In Windows 11 I’ve been using End Task instead of just closing the window and have found that to usually get obsidian up and running again.
Found the solution - it was a single note with some absolutely bizarre gibberish in it in two places (perhaps inserted files?) Removed them, and now the file went from 22MB down to 2.5. It has embedded images in it still, which I think accounts for the size. At a guess, I think it may have been a cut and paste from OneNote into Obsidian, but it’s hard to know for sure.
Thanks for the help anyway - without your prodding, I probably would not have found this.
