Obsidian crashes on edits of malformatted md file, then blanks its contents

I noticed that there was a similar topic from 2022/2023 but it was closed.

The issue:

  • I added an md file created by ChatGPT which had some formatting that was not accepted in Obsidian.
  • I was editing it in Obsidian to remove the incompatible formatting.
  • Obsidian hanged. I force-closed it.
  • Reopened Obsidian to discover that the file’s contents are completely gone. Restoring it from within Obsidian was also useless.

Thankfully, I had a backup. To me this is a serious reliability issue. Am I the only who experienced this?
