Hi. I’ve searched around for a solution to this and found a lot about problems getting Obsidian to run on Ubuntu 24.04 (and have followed that advice; Obsidian is indeed running) but have not seen anything describing this issue.
What I’m trying to do
Obsidian stalls out when I try to take multiple actions in a row: for instance, I use the Calendar and Periodic Notes plugins, and I might click on today’s date to open today’s note, then type something in the note, then click on yesterday’s date to get back to that note. At some point in that process Obsidian will stop responding to clicks or typing, and I have to shift focus to another application and/or wait a bit for it to decide to respond again.
Things I have tried
I thought perhaps that this might have been an issue with my having originally installed Obsidian via apt, so I uninstalled and reinstalled using the AppImage. But I’m still having this issue. I am using Obsidian Sync so could imagine the cause being sync-related. I’ve got over 3600 notes, so that might make sense (though I experience no slowness at all on the Mac version).
I am relatively new to Linux, having spent decades now as a Mac user, so am clueless about how I’d even go about tracking down what’s causing the stall. Any advice on what to try would be most welcome!
