Use case or problem
I was struggling with utilising my book highlights properly until I learnt about extraction. I was excited to set it up until I realised that extracting text from one note to another destructively amends the source note. It either replaces or deletes the source text, those are the only 2 options that exist.
Proposed solution
I simply would like the option in settings to leave the original note intact and untouched when a highlight/selection is extracted using the normal Obsidian feature. I dont want to destructively edit my source notes.
Currently there are options to edit or delete the source text, I would like one to leave it as is.
(The option ‘none’ in the above image deletes the source text entirely, so there is no option that leaves the original text untouched)
Current workaround
There are apparently plugins, but they havent been updaed in 3 years. And for the type of application Obsidian is, I believe this should be a native feature.
