For some reason, i am not able to see the name of the note on the tabs. See below for an example where 4 notes are open and all three tabs are empty:
The option in settings >> apearance is enabled but for some reason the tab is empty.

Update your theme & plugins, restart Obsidian.
If it still does not work, switch to the default theme and see if it works there.
