See how sites like Wikipedia have these red links that lead nowhere? We have a sort of similar feature within Obsidian where uncreated links are darken, and once you click on it a new note is created.
The problem is that there is certain stuff that I can’t / don’t want to create, yet I need to link it. Same way Wikipedia does: I need others to see that what I’m linking is important enough for it to have its own note, but its not important enough on the context of my database (in my case) for it to be created.
Brief example: Let’s say we have a song made by two artists. If I want to link everything related to it then I would include stuff like genres and record labels, and of course all artists involved. But turns out I don’t have enough information about one of them, yet I want others to know it leads (or should lead) somewhere.
A “not created yet” pop-up (with options like “create note” and “close it”) would come in very handy in this situation. I don’t want it to behave as an uncreated note though (i.e. appearances on places like outgoings, backlinks and graphs, for example), so it would help if all “ghost / red links” act like one. In case you’re wondering why, it’s because uncreated stuff feels like a task, it’s something that has to be done, while ghost links aren’t supposed to be ever created. In case hiding them from these places isn’t possible, then linking all of them to a desired existing note would be preferred.
The plugin should include an option to activate it somehow, so that not every note is immediatly treated as a ghost one. I would rather have it as a feature but I don’t think many would benefit from this option, hence not being popular enough which means not very likely to be added.
If anyone’s down to it and wants to discuss ideas I’m always open to it! Greetings everyone and thanks in advance
