Hi there…so if I do something like [[this page]] in a note it seems like Obsidian does not automatically create that as a new page unless I cmd-click on it to open it. Is this expected behavior or have I goofed something up?

This is expected. That way you can bracket [[ ]] a theme, person, event, word etc. several times before you actually make the note. This speeds up your thinking imho.

Gotcha…I would say that it adds some friction because I have to remember to click on the bracket in order to create the page. To me, typing in brackets is an explicit declaration that I want to create the page and that an additional click is not warranted. However, this is my personal opinion and preference.
