New Theme: TerraFlow

Hey friends, just letting you know about the new theme I wrote. Took me about a month as a passion project, had lots of fun doing it! I wanted something following the terracotta colors, it makes me feel calm! I also wanted to use nice animations. I’m a very big headings user so I found a way to make them stand up. I’m mostly a live-preview light mode user and dark mode is more of an afterthought but hopefully it’s good enough!

You can check out my theme in the themes section in Obsidian and here is the direct links. Enjoy!

I might work on tweaking reading mode further and create Style Settings compatible options, especially for letting users disable animations if they aren’t fans or it slows down their workflow.

Update: I realized what I had to do to update it… get version 1.0.1, what was in the directory was outdated!

Congrats on the release!

I’ve been following and monitoring your theme for a while now, and there’s a lot to love! I think my favorite aspect has got to be the interactions and overall ‘tactile’ feel.

My current suggestions for improvement lie mostly around performance optimization (which has already gotten better since pre-release, but still has room for improvement) and removing various bugs (such as the frequent appearance of scroll bars on tab containers where there normally shouldn’t be any)

I know this sounds maybe a tad bit critical for a congratulations message, but rest assured, it’s because I care about how good the theme ends up. I only care this much when a theme has a lot of artistry and bold decisions put into it, which this theme has in spades (and most others don’t!)

I look forward to the success of TerraFlow. Feel free to ask for help from other devs and watch out for Issues on your GitHub pages (these will tell you what needs to be fixed). I wish I could help too but my hands are already full with my own theme.

Thank you for the very encouraging feedback!
I think I fixed the scroll bars on tab containers issues in 1.0.2.
If you notice any other bugs: please let me know!
I will be working on improving performance but not at the cost of the animations…

I have just tried the theme out. I do have some feedback on it, but overall it is a great theme already.

The sidebar tabs translating upwards can be a bit disorienting, you could consider applying that effect when the relevant panes are focused instead of just on hover. Style Settings options to configure the amount of translation and making it toggleable would be nice.

Some of the headings (h4, 5 and 6) have too low a contrast for my personal liking but that may be just me. They have more contrast in the outline view. When .workspace-tab-header-container-inner overflows the scrollbar appears which is a bit wacky personally. This issue also applies to the .workspace-tab-header-inner and its items. Unresolved links’ colours could have slightly better contrast.

Last but not least, the animations and colours seem well thought out. Congrats on releasing this theme!

P.S. The outline view does not handle text overflow too well. Or maybe it was an opinionated choice?

I get it, but I really love it! haha … I will think of a way to make it cleaner some day. Or make it an option in style settings, great idea! I have never played around with any “style settings” options yet, no idea how to build those. So I will be reading on that.

Hmm, I thought it was fine? I will review that for sure.

I thought that was fixed in 1.0.2 ? Can you confirm?

I noticed a bug that appeared for those, I will fix it as a priority.

Not sure I understand, what is wrong according to you? I often use bigger headings that will go over 3-4 lines and they seem to display well in the outline pane?

Thanks for the feedback!!

at least for me the headings get displayed from top to bottom when the text overflows which looks a bit disorienting

I’m probably biased on the contrast I have colour deficiency

Is this what you see?

nope, I see this. only really a problem when the sidebar view is small.

Yeah that’s fine… although your sidebars on top are weird… I don’t have windows so I can’t test that!!

Major update: v2.0.0
Up to 50% performance improvements. Try it!
