tl;dr I made a plugin for navigating my Obsidian Zettelkasten kind of like Excalibrain + Local Graph
I’ve alternated between analogue and digital zettelkasten over the past couple of years. One thing I find much easier in the analogue is figuring out my context (what this note’s parents and grandparents are about and how deep this particular part of the system goes).
In Obsidian I found myself constantly losing my bearings. My sidebar would show all the nearby notes. Yesterday I experimented with making a plugin to create a sort of local graph view of my local system. It’s like Excalibrain mixed with the Local Graph. I can see the grandparents, parents, siblings and children are at a glance and I gave it a feature so you can see how many notes are beneath each of these relatives.
I’m delighted with it (of course). Hopefully it will also be useful to other Zettellers in the community who could use a hand with a bit of context in their digital zettelkasten.
