(New Feature Request) Disable to Perform a Search When We Click on a Tag

Hello,

I use tags in a tree style. When I click on a tag to expand it, it’s performing a search instead, which is really frustrating. Since this is part of Obsidian’s default settings, changing it is up to the Obsidian developers. A simple enable/disable button in the settings would be enough for this.

Do you mean in the tag list in the sidebar? Is the little arrow that you click to fold/unfold in a different position than it was before? If so that’s a bug with folding things in Obsidian, and will be fixed when version 1.7.7 is released (no ETA).

Yes, that’s the part I’m talking about. But my issue isn’t a bug—it’s more of a structural problem. The small arrow is too tiny to click accurately, and often, when we try to click it, we end up clicking on the tag itself, which immediately opens the search panel. I’d like clicking on the tag itself to expand it rather than initiate a search. I hope this explains it better now.

It does, thanks.

If you’d like it to be considered as a possible change by the developers, you’ll want to post it in the Feature Requests category. I’d just move this thread there, but that category has a template to fill out when you post in it.

Some CSS would help with that.
I tried making it bigger (not for tags, but for search results or something) but cannot post my solution (a quarter of the icon went out of sight), and in the end removed it (it’s fiddly dealing with margins and paddings when you don’t have the right selector).
Someone may pitch in with some CSS solution.

This didn’t occur to me before: if you don’t want to click the tags in the panel to search them, what do you use the tags panel for?

Thank you for your feedback. I hope different kinds of help can come in this regard as well. But my main issue is that when I click on the tag, the search window opens directly. I don’t want this to happen.

I think tag results should be visible within the tag panel, not in the search panel, just like folders and notes. But even if this is not the case, clicking on a tag should not immediately switch to the search panel. I have a lot of nested tags, and when I want to expand a tag, I can easily missclick, and this is very frustrating.
