Navigation arrows do not work after creating new note via command-click

Steps to reproduce

Open a vault and create a link to a new document. Press Command + click and it will create the new note, but there will be no navigation back to the original note. The only way I could get the top arrows to work was by going into read mode or by right-clicking the item and selecting “Open Link.”

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Y
I tried this in the sandbox and it did the same thing.

Expected result

I expected the arrow key to take me back to the previous note I was viewing.

Actual result

Instead of returning to the previous note, the navigation arrows are grayed out and unresponsive.

Additional information

I don’t think this is a bug.

The navigation arrows are for each separate tab. So if you create a new tab, the arrows won’t bring you to a different previous tab.

You can use ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab to navigate between tabs.

There is also a setting Settings → Editor → Always focus new tabs. If you turn that off, you’ll stay in the original note when you trigger a new tab, if that feels more intuitive.

I don’t understand the part about switching to Read Mode. That shouldn’t affect the navigation history. And when you say “right-clicking the item” what item (and where) are you referring to?

Okay, I misunderstood how it works. I thought it would keep the context if you selected a link and used Command + right-click to open it in a new tab.
