A related feature request that you might be interested in is Add support for link types, link info, link metadata which is asking for Link Types. Presumably if you had link types, you would also be able to filter, group, and mix-and-match your connections, possibly in ways that you are imagining. You might find some useful discussion in that thread, too.
(Depending on what you are imagining, it’s possible this topic should be merged with that topic. But I don’t know, so I’ll leave it separate for now.)
