Multi-user Plans for Obsidian Sync

Use case or problem

I run a small TTRPG community for ~5 DMs who use a Obsidian vault to share notes and record session summaries which we post to an Obsidian Publish site for our players to use. The vault is mostly text and moderately sized images with the total size slightly over 1 GB. Some of the DMs use the vault on a regular basis while others use it much more irregularly.

I’m interested in possibly moving from our current cloud syncing solution to Obsidian Sync, but it doesn’t make economic sense for me to switch at the current cost for 5 users of $40 per month. Additionally even if the per-user fee were lower I’d rather not have to micromanage adding and removing users every month based on which DMs are active at any given time.

Proposed solution

Offer Sync plans that include multiple users in the base plan at a discount from buying a separate subscription for every user.

For example this plan which would sacrifice some of the advantages of Sync Plus in exchange for the multiple users feature:

  • 1 synced vault
  • 4 additional users included
  • 5 GB total storage
  • 100 MB maximum file size
  • 6 month version history
  • Price somewhere in the range $8-$16 per month

Current workarounds

  • Using an alternative cloud syncing solution
  • Paying the full price for every user

I second this. I was considering buying an Obsidian Sync license to share and allow people to contribute to my player notes, but paying $5 per person per month when there is only the one vault not only creates a social problem of vetting which of the other players are the more “useful” ones, but seems too expensive for this use case.
