Moving groups of notes

Things I have tried

I’d like to select groups of files for moving them into folders. I’ve checked the help but don’t find anything in the help, either by searching or checking possible topics.

What I’m trying to do

I’m naming notes with a combination of an alphanumeric string and a short descriptive text string. When the first part gets very long creating a name for a new note is not very intuitive. Most of the time I have to refer to the file explorer to get an idea what the alphanumeric part should be, which slows note taking down considerably. And it interferes with quickly capturing thoughts in notes.

It occurs to me that putting notes related to specific topics in folders would be helpful. I’ve created a folder. It would be convenient to select an entire group of files for moving to the folder in one move.

So, how do I, can I, select groups of files in preparation for moving ahem to a folder?

To select a group of notes one by one, press Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows/Linux) while clicking them.

To select a consecutive series of files, click the first one, then press Shift and click the last one — all the ones in between will be selected too.

This also works in your system’s file explorer, and possibly in other apps that show file lists.

Thanks. Is there a way to do this in mobile, specifically iPhone/iPad?

You can also do this from the local file explorer on your computer from the folder where your notes are stored. This tends to be easier when moving a lot of things around. As of mobile, I don’t know of a way nor a plugin currently that can do that.

Thanks. I’ll keep it in mind.
