The file size limitations are now mentioned in the Pricing section of Obsidian Sync and at Plans and storage limits - Obsidian Help .
The app itself still doesn’t provide sufficient feedback. There are a couple of feature requests about that (which were posted a year before this one):

Sync won’t handle files >100mb. Sometimes I’m unaware that a file hasn’t synced
Proposed solution
Add an error message to the sync log, something like “Skipping file (name) as it exceeds 100Mb limit”
Hello!
That would be awesome to have a notification that pops whenever Sync fails, just to make sure we don’t have to open sync everytime we upload multiple files to make sure everything happened well.
