IMHO, If it is necessary to make it more distinct, it should be more deviant. If not, placing the elements as similar as possible is good in terms of consistency.
The ambiguity between the two is just a misalignment, I think.
But you have a point. Even I applied a CSS snippet to change it to be more distinct.

Just asking out of curiosity, but how many pixels are needed to define misalignment? Over 4px or 8px?
