It would be great to have a minimized Obsidian-Version similar to minimized Audioplayers which hover over the workspace on your desktop, from where you can add entries to a file under a certain heading. I’d use it to file entries under the “Log”-Entries in my daily notes, but it could be used anywhere.

I think you can achieve something similar by using the
- periodic notes plugin
- calendar plugin obsidian://show-plugin?id=calendar
- hover editor obsidian://show-plugin?id=obsidian-hover-editor
Now, by hovering over a date on the calendar in your side bar while holding CTRL, you will be able to edit the daily note.
except that hover editor has to be within the obsidian window and can’t float outside the window, which is what I think the poster is asking for
