What I’m playing with
- I got large files containing
- Properties
- Properties that I want shown in the file, without duplicate text
- Multiple long tags
- Headers and long texts
- Relations between notes
- Files that acts like lists
Old System
Image below shows the system I’ve had earlier
- One entry, under a flaws header system, categorizing based on which group their in and/or what they do. of which, doesn’t really work if these often changes based on the timeline in the story, putting them under multiple categories at once
Practically the old system is just a list you need to scroll down to find the character in.
As for the file themselves, a lot of these properties in written as plain text to be visible in reading mode
What I’m trying to do
-
Have some form of list function that can showcase functional/consistent…
- Tags / Properties
- Bio Introduction
- Link to file
- Alias / Title / Nickname
-
Making multiple lists for either…
- Characters
- Species
- (Within other files) Relations to other files
Something that is visually pleasing as well, possibly with a header system, although I don’t know how well that will mix now
Options I’ve looked over
-
Simply using links headers has worked when it comes to linking, although certain properties needs to be written manually, and doesn’t function as an actual property
-
Bases may be able to showcase all the properties, although lacks the capability for embedded links of text, and requires me to copy paste if I want info be shown both as a property, and visible within the file. Whenever I want to list related files in a content file, I’ll need to embed a new base, specified for that character/creature. Needing to double the amount of files- (I already have plans for 100+ content files, containing all these characters and creatures)
-
Tags on headers makes searching up tags easy, you see the name of the character, followed by the relevant tags. But with multiple tags, it quickly becomes a long messy text, that becomes harder to read. Gives no real structure order for the list, everything becomes randomly placed
- Tags under a header lacks the name of the character when searching, making differentiating between characters immediately difficult
-
Embedded files, although they lack the capabilities of containing tags that can be searched. I’ve used embedded files to showcase bios, like in the image above. Even if I make separate files for
-
Headers with comments containing tags has worked the best so far, allowing for searches and uncluttered text in reading mode. Although again, if I want things to be visible, I need said properties/tags written twice. Gives no real structure order for the list, everything becomes randomly placed
What I’m looking for
Whether there are any plugins, or options I am unaware about, that can make a system like this easier to do, or even a similarly styled system, I’ll be very glad
If there are other systems that can do the job better than what I’m describing, I’m open for that as well
In the end, I want to move the contents to it’s own created website with the same system…
