MacOS26 not permitted for installing the update .dmg

when I click the .dmg, the above prompt appeared and I cannot solve. Other apps (e.g. DeepL, Ollama) can be installed even those are downloaded from 3rd party website. Using Avast, Sophos etc.

I have tried disabling the security tools, but problem continues.

That’s strange
I mean, they are plenty of folks out here using Obsidian on MacOS 26+ (AFAIK  )

Is lockdown mode enabled on your mac ?
I don’t really know if it could interfere with installing app though :innocent: … but that’s kind of the only thing I can think about at the moment that might have some impact on installing things

Is your mac a personal one or a mac provided by your employer (for work) on which you might be limited to what you can install ?

Are you a standard user on your mac or an administrator ?
(I don’t know if it could make a difference though  )

Edit (as I forgot earlier ):
Did you download the installer from here: https://obsidian.md/download ?
Did you try to re-download it and then install that one ?

Yeah, my first guess would be that the file got corrupted during download.

Thanks for your reply

  1. Lockdown mode is always disabled.
  2. Personal Mac not an office one
  3. I am the administrator
  4. Downloaded the Obsidian-1.12.7.dmg from your official link

Strange indeed.

Do you have another user account on the mac? If so, I’d switch into that one (or create a test one) and try to open the .dmg in there.

Then you’ll know if the issue is only in your main user account or system wide.

Have you tried deleting the .dmg and downloading a new copy from the website?

Yes, I downloaded .dmg from the official website

I know. But perhaps the file got corrupted while downloading. So have you tried deleting the installer and downloading it again?

Solved. Thanks everyone for helping me. Paused VPN protection, then .dmg can be installed. Sorry for your time.
