Local graph does not show relationships between nearby notes

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a sandbox vault and create three notes (e.g. A, B, and C).

  2. Link all the notes together such that they form a triangle in the global graph view, as in the screenshot below.

  3. Navigate to any of the three notes and open the local graph view. (It doesn’t matter what depth setting you set the graph to: this happens regardless.)

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? Y

Yes! Steps given above were performed in the sandbox vault.

Expected result

All the links between the notes should be reflected in the local graph view, just as they are in the global.

Actual result

In the local graph, notes A and C are not connected despite them being linked to each other.

Additional information

Here is an example from my vault, where adjacent days’ journal entries do not appear to be linked together when viewed from the weekly note’s local graph.

Every day is linked to the days before and after it, and the week has a link to every day in that week. However, the local view does not reflect these links between adjacent days, despite them appearing correctly in the global graph view.

Edit  : Did you try to toggle On the local graph view setting: Neighbor links ?

I overlooked that setting when posting my previous reply (below) but it seemed to work for me :innocent:
While having A linked to B, B linked to A and C, C linked to A (for example).

Previous reply

I don’t think this is a bug if you’re on note B and B is only linked to A and C

As stated in the documentation:

[…] While the Graph view shows all notes in your vault, a local Graph view shows you notes connected to the active note.

In other words, the Graph View, gives you a view of all the links between all the notes you have in your vault but the local graph view gives you a view of the links to/from the “current”/active note and only these…

I mean, the local graph view is not a “zoomed” view of the global graph view but it reflects the connections of the note you’re currently focused on …

well I’m dumb as bricks, thanks so much for pointing that out! case closed

I think we were both multitasking a bit too much and overlooked the Neighbor toggle

Glad to know that did the trick  !
