Loading Graph or running search hangs Obsidian (current snap vweaion), then crashes Ubuntu 24.04LTS (X11)

Steps to reproduce

I am running out of the box Ubuntu Studio 24.04 with the most recent, no customisations Obsidian snap package. The following happens even if no other applications are open on my system:

  1. Launch Obsidian (community plugins disabled, no custom themes or CSS)
  2. Daily Note opens and is editable, no problems.
  3. Click Graph View (or Search) from side menu
  4. Obsidian hangs during loading process and eventually causes my system to crash completely to the point where only a hard reboot will give me my system back

The same happens when I try to Search for a note.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N] Yes

Sandbox mode behaved as expected (i.e. no crashes), but the sandbox vault is tiny and less complex than my main vault with nearly 2,500 notes and (previous omnivore) webclips. Most of my notes contain multiple tags as I regularly cross-reference all sorts of different notes.

Expected result

I’d expect Obsidian to behave like it does on a smaller scale in sandbox mode: graph and search should not crash my laptop

Actual result

Graph and search hang the current Snap Obsidian app, which in turn takes my entire OS down to the point where only a hard reboot helps.

Obsidian is a high level app.
If your computer crashes, this problems runs very deep in your system and you need to look around driver level.

You can also try to run obsidian without hardware acceleration.
