Steps to reproduce
- Create a new Canvas file in your Obsidian vault, with the vault’s default link indexing function enabled.
- Add a note card inside this Canvas file.
- Confirm the link works normally: check the Backlinks panel of the target note and Graph View, the link from the Canvas note card is correctly displayed.
- Close the Canvas file completely, and do NOT open/access this Canvas file for an extended period (you can normally use Obsidian to edit other files, restart or quit the app during this period).
- Restart Obsidian, do NOT open the previously mentioned Canvas file, directly check the Backlinks panel of the target note and Graph View.

Please, follow the Troubleshooting Guide before answering Yes.
Expected result
Internal links from note cards inside the Canvas file should be consistently indexed by Obsidian, regardless of whether the Canvas file has been opened recently. The links should be continuously and correctly displayed in the Backlinks panel of the target note, and the corresponding link relationship should be rendered normally in the Graph View.
Actual result
When the Canvas file has not been opened or accessed for a long time, the automatically generated internal links from the note cards inside the Canvas will not be indexed by Obsidian’s link system. These links will not be automatically displayed in the Backlinks panel of the target note, nor will the corresponding link relationship appear in the Graph View.
The links will only be re-indexed and displayed normally in Backlinks and Graph View after the Canvas file is manually opened again. Restarting Obsidian or manually triggering a vault reindex cannot resolve this issue without opening the Canvas file.
