Linking notes to exact passages from PDFs

The capacity to inter-link my notes with highlights from PDF is the single biggest bottleneck in my workflow, but I’m nervous to use plugins like Annotator that I suspect will be deprecated in the future (forcing me to re-annotate all of my books) by the “official” implementation.

I’m curious if there’s any existing plugin that promises to avoid this (e.g. by integrating highlights in backwards-compatible native PDF support), or if there’s any word on the timeline for the official implementation of this annotating in Obsidian (I know this has been on the roadmap for some time)

Just replying to say that the devs don’t give timelines for the roadmap. And since it has an external dependency, it’s even harder to say.

I don’t do very much annotation, but I was trying to work with PDFs more during a previous semester where I had to do a lot of APA-style research. I was attempting to use Zotero + Obsidian. Have you ever explored that integration? (Maybe citations vs. annotations is a very different problem set.)
