Limited usefulness for single files?

Am I correct in thinking that dataview is of limited usefulness when you don’t aggressively separate your documents into sub-documents?

I tend to have one document for a particular topic, whatever that is, then organize it into sections via headers. As is normal for markdown.

It seems like dataview is only really good if I would take each section and split it out into it’s own document. Is that a correct understanding of how it works?

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about, replicating a dataview example:

Video Games

Minecraft

Pillars of Eternity 2

There is no easy way of querying this kind of data structure?

This is a difficult question to answer (to me) because this a recurrent misreading of the metadata structure in dataview and I already answer this many, many times…

Some recent answers:

Direct answer: with your exact structure, no.

Ah, I did go searching before I asked, but obviously I missed the previous answers, sorry about that.

Thanks for the clarification.
