iOS Share Sheet fails to create Daily Note when sharing content

Steps to reproduce

  1. Make sure today’s Daily Note does not already exist.

  2. Open Google Maps on iOS.

  3. Share any location.

  4. Select Obsidian from the iOS Share Sheet.

  5. Choose Destination: Today and tap Save.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide?

Yes.

Expected result

If today’s Daily Note does not exist, Obsidian should automatically create it using the configured Daily Notes path and filename format, then append the shared content.

Actual result

The share extension displays the following error instead of creating the Daily Note:

File “main/journals/2026_06_25.md” not found.

The shared content is correctly shown in the preview, but it cannot be saved because the target note does not exist.

Additional information

  • Obsidian iOS 1.12.7

  • The issue is reproducible with any shared item.

  • The issue only occurs when today’s Daily Note has not yet been created.
