It is impossible to drag cursor to the beginning of the line in Live preview if the line starts with narrow character: I (uppercase i), l (lowercase L) or, say, | (vertical line).
Interesting, that this issue is not reproducible if you put a header somewhere it the note.

I’d love to see this fixed but I’m not sure it’s an Obsidian problem. I’ve seen it elsewhere in iOS, like in the Safari address bar.

I strongly disagree. Cursor movement isn’t perfect on iOS, but compare cursor movement in Apple Notes and Obsidian. Obsidians cursor movement is borderline unusable, whereas it’s super fast, intuitive and accurate in Notes.

This is absolutely an issue that needs to be addressed, especially because it makes other bugs much worse (for example, using the Link toolbar button on iOS inserts [](), which is essentially useless if you’re pasting a url since it’s so hard to get the cursor in the right place).

There’s nothing to agree or disagree about —I tell you I’ve experienced the reported problem outside of Obsidian too. It doesn’t happen everywhere. If you haven’t encountered it, great.

Steps to reproduce

Press and hold the keyboard spacebar to make the cursor moveable. Move the cursor to the left margin (to try to place it at the beginning of a line)

Expected result

Cursor can be placed at beginning of line.

Actual result

Keyboard disappears/cursor vanishes unless placed extremely careful, with very little margin for error. If first characters of line are "I ", cursor can’t be placed at all.

Thanks for moving this to the existing thread. I didn’t see anything similar when I looked. On the iOS 27 beta I have no problem moving the cursor to the beginning of the line in Safari, however I do have the problem in Gmail.
