Inline html only visible when editing the line in markdown both edit and read mode?

I want to embed complete img or p HTML in the Markdown and have some questions about that:

  1. should it render in read-mode? because it doesn’t, neither in edit nor in read-mode
  2. while editing the html it renders nicely with syntax highlighting, but as soon as I leave the line it becomes invisible except for any embedded text. Is that intended?
  3. I have tried to quote the HTML in triple backtick blocks, but then they are only text

The Obsidian help only talks about ‘sanitizing’ HTML and I completely endorse that, but some more detail would be good, maybe in the FAQ here.
