In reading mode, open images and inline PDFs in external editor

Use case or problem

In reading mode, images and PDFs can’t be opened in an external editor. To do so, one must switch to Preview, make the link text visible, and then right click and choose “Open in default app”.

Proposed solution

For images, I propose a contextual menu that allows users to right-click and then select “Open in default app”.

For PDFs, it might make more sense to add “Open in default app” to the ⋮ menu in the top right. Alternatively, an “Open” button might be added to the “Download” and “Print” buttons.

Current workaround (optional)

As mentioned above, one can switch to Preview, make the link text visible, and then right click and choose “Open in default app”.

There is a new plugin, Copy Image and URL in Preview by @NomarCub, That does most of what is requested here. Images can be copied and PDFs can be opened in an external viewer. Thanks very much for this plugin!

All that is really missing from the plugin is the option to open images externally, but I am hoping this can be added to the contextual menu for images.
