Use case or problem
Currently, when using Obsidian mobile, specifically iOS (Apple), when creating a new note or editing an existing note, I click the Image Icon to add a photo to the note via the Camera or an Existing Photo. Obsidian adds the photo as image.png and doesn’t specifically ask for a File name.
This causes an issue if you use Obsidian on Mobile for Image capture as existing images, also named “image.png,” will be overwritten, especially if you have Obsidian saving all attachments into a designated folder.
Furthermore, when using the Mobile Camera in Obsidian, there is no use in capturing text in an image or utilizing the Document Scan feature that Apple Camera provides, just in Bear or Apple Notes.
Proposed solution
It would be nice if Obsidian Mobile allowed the Filename to be edited when importing an Image before saving. Secondly, Apple’s CameraKit in iOS can be leveraged to take advantage of features like document scanning and text from image capture to make Obsidian more useful as a capture tool on mobile.
Current workaround (optional)
As a workaround, I have to go to my Attachments folder and rename the Image.png file right after I import an Image into Obsidian.
