What I’m trying to do
I would love to be able to import a Gmail message - or even better, Gmail thread - into my Obsidian vault. Ideally it would recognize and markdown basic formatting (e.g. boldface). Also, it should be able to include the headers. And maybe even recognize things like the date and senders into existing cards.
So I know that this does not exist already. And ultimately this could make for a good plugin. But in the meantime, how does everyone else handle this use case?
My current approaches are below - but they are admittedly less than ideal.
Things I have tried
- I have written a iOS script that is clunky and barely works.
- By using the Gmail->Dropbox chrome plugin by CloudHQ, I can write a file with a gmail message, and then get that message into obsidian. Kind of clunky.
- I have tried to find email gateways with no success. For instance, with OneNote I can simply forward a message to an address and it pops up in OneNote as a new page.
