Image scaling quality is terrible in live preview and image viewing mode

If I have a markdown note with an image embedded and it is downscaled to fit in the preview, in editing/live preview mode, the downscaling quality is extremely bad which makes text hard to read. If I switch to reader mode, the quality is good, I guess the same as Chromium’s normal scaling. If I open the image file itself in Obsidian, it is also always scaled with low quality. Here is an example of reader vs preview mode (open the image alone to see, the forum seems to scale it further which makes it less visible):
