I recently copied my entire vault from my desktop to my laptop, and I just realized that most of my image links are now broken.
Here’s how my setup works:
- I have several subfolders for organizing images (for example, one for Blender, one for Photoshop, one for VRChat, etc.).
- While writing notes, I usually drag and drop images directly into the note.
- After that, I move those images from the left-side file explorer into their respective subfolders.
On my main computer, everything looks fine — the images display correctly in my notes.
However, I’ve now noticed that the internal paths are actually pointing to where the image was originally dropped (the root or some temporary folder on the left-side menu) instead of their final destination in the image folders.
As a result, when I copied the vault to my laptop, all those image links broke because they were pointing to incorrect paths.
What I’m trying to do
What I would like to do is to update those paths so that when I copy and paste my vault into another machine (or if I format my PC) those images can be found and displayed on my notes again
Things I have tried
I’ve already tried enabling this setting:
Settings → Files & Links → Automatically update internal links
This is activated by default but it doesn’t seem to retroactively fix the issue.
