Community Directory: Image Hoist
Hi everyone! I’m excited to share Image Hoist, a plugin designed to keep your Obsidian vault lean, fast, and 100% shareable by moving your images to the cloud.
The “Storage Reset” Advantage
Unlike many plugins that only handle images during drag-and-drop, Image Hoist is built to handle the images already living inside your vault.
The true power of this plugin lies in helping you reclaim your storage. When you “hoist” an image:
- It uploads the file to the ImgBB service.
- It replaces the local internal link with a remote URL.
- Optional cleanup: if you enable the “Delete after upload” setting, the plugin will automatically remove the local file from your vault, effectively reducing your vault size.
Key Features:
- Hoist Existing Images: Right-click any local image and select “Hoist this image” to move it to the cloud.
- Bulk Note Cleanup: A single command to scan your entire note and upload all images in one go.
- Auto-Hoist (Optional): Enable this to ensure new images go straight to the cloud as soon as you paste them.
- Configurable Deletion: Choose whether to keep your local files or have the plugin delete them after a successful upload to save space.
- Smart Hashing: The plugin recognizes if you’ve uploaded the same image before, reusing the existing link to save time.
- Perfect for Mobile Sync: Keep your mobile sync lightning fast by reducing the amount of binary data in your vault.
I’d love to hear your feedback or any feature requests!
