I created the template folder, template notes, set it up in the core plugin, but when I start a note and try to insert a template, it just doesn't happen?!

I have tried starting a new vault, tried deleting the template folder and starting all over again, and nothing. I really need to start organizing my notes. This blows!
Could someone please help me? I’ve tried looking up tutorials, but it seems I am the only one having this issue. I really want to give obsidian a try. And I urgently need to organize my notes.

Could you describe the steps you take? I don’t see enough info in your post to guess what’s causing the problem.
