 I can't include the dropdown menu in my notes

Hi. On my installed Obsidian I can’t include the dropdown in my notes. Only the bollet points appear, but the dropdown cursor does not appear.

I’m a new user and I don’t know if this is a function that needs to be enabled or a plugin that needs to be installed.

What exactly do you mean by dropdown? I’m not aware of a dropdown so I’m curious what I’m missing

It makes me think of folding, which is enabled with the following settings:
