It reads what you’ve connected (Obsidian, notes, camera roll) and resurfaces old pieces a few at a time in a place warmer than a terminal. Notes and photos import are Mac-only for now. You can sit with the librarian for a reflection on what has been going on recently, and it can also surface a note or photo it thinks might feel joyful or blessed to you. The Obsidian connection is direct: you point the room at your vault folder, it reads your markdown notes from there, and what comes back on the shelf is shown exactly as you wrote it.
I built it because I always experience brain fog. I can’t stop that from happening, but I wanted at least a way to see or read things that used to make me happy. I’ve used Obsidian for a while because I like the second-brain idea, and working with AI got better as it knew me more — but I’m a visual person. Skills in a terminal or code editor can be powerful, and I still wanted that warmer place, where I don’t have to keep asking it to run a certain skill. I just want the space to know I need it.
It is free: with no key, everything runs on your own machine and nothing you bring in leaves it. If you say yes to the room’s one question, it asks GitHub once a day whether a newer version exists; that request carries nothing of yours. You’ll need a local LLM set up to use it. A commercial AI API is recommended if you want blessings and reflections, and if a paid AI key already sits in your setup, the room will use it silently. Bringing things in and sorting can take an evening, or longer than a day — I can’t tell you which until it’s in it. Writing comes in first; pictures are much slower.
It doesn’t support mobile yet. On Windows you can use it with Obsidian. If you quit in the middle of a long picture import, that work is lost, so please don’t quit the room then — making an interrupted import survivable is the first thing I plan to build after launch. Sometimes it can go quiet and look stuck; it is still working, and having it say more as it goes is planned too. Machines with less than 16GB of RAM are not recommended. No support is promised.
